5 Star Baby!

So we arrived in Phuket and what you don’t know is that we’ve splashed out (Thanks to a secret escapes voucher from Joe’s family) to a 5 star paradise… away from the hustle and bustle of Phuket town. This voucher includes a private villa with balcony and outside bathroom, 2 complimentary buffet dinners, 60minutes spa treatment each, complimentary continental breakfast and a candlelit dinner for two in a private room. WAHOO!!! This will help us forget that ghastly night boat. We arrive and eagerly hand over passports for check in…. I could tell straight away from the look on the receptionists face that something was not quite right. And then she pointed to the date on the booking…. I had booked the hotel for the 18th of April instead of the 18th of March. Whoopsie. In my defence I did ask Joe to double check the booking as we were in a rush when I did it and he obviously failed to pay attention. The receptionist went on to tell me that they were fully booked? Which I still don’t understand as after a little faff she managed to alter the booking, she was very apologetic about the fact that we now had single beds instead of a double. PAA last of our worries. The plot thickens we had to pay an £80 admin fee to get the room changed still least of our worries at this point in time. I went in my purse to get out my credit card to pay the fee straight away at this point I noticed my debit card was missing. Joe was telling me not to panic and that it would turn up somewhere… I decided straight away that it wouldn’t due to the fact that I wouldn’t have put it anywhere else. In Thailand the cash machine gives you money then card and as I remembered hurriedly withdrawing money the other day, I came to the conclusion that i’d probably left it in the machine. Anyway we now had a room but couldn’t check in for 2 hours so guess where we headed. Thats right back to the pub… after all the hotels so posh we can’t even afford a drink here. Haha. Debit card didn’t turn up… which is a bit of a problem as i’d previously transferred all the money from my current account into that account as its the only way I get free money withdrawals. Its even more complicated as since I had to reset all my phone and Joe lost his, there is no way we can get onto the account through internet banking but we have a few back up plans so no-one worry. After a few beers the world seemed like a better place.

We headed back to the hotel to get checked into our room. OMG its the most beautiful place i’ve ever stepped foot in the bathroom and bedroom is so beautiful and the pool and restaurant look amazing too. I think we appreciate it even more after the night boat situation! heres the link if you would like to have a further look at the facilities…

We chilled for the first few days and enjoyed our breakfast each day and the pool and jacuzzi. The breakfast is basic but lovely, Joe loves to order iced coffee and two Orange juices and Milk oh year and water as well as toast and croissants.

For our first dinner we ordered a takeaway pizza with some of our leftover cash its pretty cheap and means we can enjoy extra time in our room which is so lovely, I think they’ll be more pizza to come before the week up.

We’ve even thought about going to the gym. Joe had his first ever massage and got himself so worried about it that I thought he was going to have a panic attack but he actually enjoyed it and we went back for a second one a few days later.

We’ve met a lot of people, its mainly older couples some are nice some are very strange. Everyone seems to be here on some kind of voucher which is quite good as no-one is super posh. We had our first buffet the other day and treated ourselves to a bottle of wine. The theme for the night was Thai Lovers Night, the food was amazing it was really nice being able to try everything. We had a few courses and them some strange cheesecake for pudding. We had an amazing night and then got an early night that bottle of wine had taken its toll.

The next day we went back to doing more of the same. We have to sort my dad out as he gets here Friday and we have the room till Saturday so one night here should help him get over his jet lag. So we went to reception as i’d seen online they offer a joining fee to cover an extra person staying in the room. After asking they don’t offer this if you’ve used a voucher great! They also tried to fob me off saying that the only room available was the most expensive room they have at about 350 a night! After a quick scan online I found a room for 180 and booked it before dad has to stay in a bedsit next door. We spent the next few days chilling and relaxing! So much so we’re both struggling to keep our eyes open, I even nearly fell asleep during dinner the other day!

Hopefully thats all the stressful money stuff out the way now and we can enjoy our next few days of paradise.
